Severity and Leniency

Heinrich Bullinger quoting Augustine (not a promotion of Bullinger and Augustine as true Christians):
"Not everyone that spares is a friend; nor is everyone that strikes, an enemy. Better are the stripes of a friend than the voluntary kisses of an enemy. It is better to love with severity, than to deceive with leniency. He that binds a frenzied man, and wakes the one who is sick from lethargy, troubles them both, and yet he loves them both."

The Slothful Man

The following is a quote from Wilson on Proverbs 26:13-16 (this is not a promotion or an endorsement of Wilson as a true Christian).
"The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion in the way; a lion [is] in the streets. [As] the door turneth upon his hinges, so [doth] the slothful upon his bed. The slothful hideth his hand in [his] bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. The sluggard [is] wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason" (Proverbs 26:13-16).
